(Strategic Takeaway) {#so-what} RTÉ News is a news & magazines app that is completely free. With a 4.22/5 rating from 9.8K reviews, it faces significant user friction. > **Bottom Line:** Restoring basic image interaction and stabilizing the load path would address the primary friction points driving negative sentiment. Prioritizing these fixes will defend the core audience against more stable, third-party news aggregators. **Best for:** Irish residents and global audiences seeking trusted, real-time news and cultural coverage from Ireland's national broadcaster. ### PM Action Plan (Next Best Moves) - [ ] [PIVOT] Restore pinch-to-zoom and full-screen image viewing because these are the top-cited accessibility regressions → improve sentiment baseline ### Outlook: Declining The news app market is consolidating around stable, high-performance platforms that prioritize accessibility. RTÉ News is currently exposed due to maintenance-mode updates that fail to address core technical regressions, which will accelerate churn if stability is not restored. - 🔴 Technical instability post-update causes unexpected crashes, which erodes user trust and forces migration to more stable news alternatives. - 🔴 The removal of essential image interaction features creates a accessibility barrier that directly contradicts the app's value as a trusted source. ## Key Metrics Summary | Metric | Value | | :--- | :--- | | Overall Rating | 4.22/5 | | Total Reviews | 9.8K | | Sentiment | Upset (15/100) | | Confidence | High | | Pricing Model | Free | | Platforms | iOS & Android | | Key Features | 3 analyzed | | Trend | Declining | | Outlook | Declining | ## Competitor Comparison | App | Rating | Sentiment | Developer | | :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- | | **RTÉ News** (this app) | 4.22/5 | Upset | RTÉ | | [조선일보](https://marlvel.ai/apps/com-chosunmedia-android) | 3.0/5 | N/A | Chosunilbo | | [헤이버니 | 나에게 도착한 오늘의 취향](https://marlvel.ai/apps/com-twigfarm-heybunny) | 3.9/5 | N/A | Twig Farm Co.,Ltd. | | [키워드뉴스 - 원하는 관심뉴스만 쏙쏙](https://marlvel.ai/apps/fun-rebecca-kwdnews) | 4.1/5 | N/A | Keyword News | | [1TV Armenia](https://marlvel.ai/apps/am-tv1) | 4.2/5 | N/A | Armenian Public TV | | [1Twente](https://marlvel.ai/apps/nl-eentwente-app) | 4.1/5 | N/A | Streekomroep Twente | ## Company Profile - **Developer:** RTÉ - **Website:** [https://www.rte.ie](https://www.rte.ie) - **Social:** [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/explorerte) · [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/ExploreRTE) · [X/Twitter](https://twitter.com/rte) · [YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/user/rte) ## Data Sources & Links - **App Store:** [View on Apple Store](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/rt%C3%A9-news/id355836123?uo=4) - **Google Play:** [View on Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ie.rte.news&hl=en&gl=us) - **Dev Site:** [Official Website](https://www.rte.ie) - **Sources:** Developer website content, About us / company information, App store metadata, User reviews. ## Related Intel Reports - [*조선일보*](https://marlvel.ai/apps/com-chosunmedia-android) (Chosunilbo) · 3.0/5 Rating - [*헤이버니 | 나에게 도착한 오늘의 취향*](https://marlvel.ai/apps/com-twigfarm-heybunny) (Twig Farm Co.,Ltd.) · 3.9/5 Rating - [*키워드뉴스 - 원하는 관심뉴스만 쏙쏙*](https://marlvel.ai/apps/fun-rebecca-kwdnews) (Keyword News) · 4.1/5 Rating - [*1TV Armenia*](https://marlvel.ai/apps/am-tv1) (Armenian Public TV) · 4.2/5 Rating - [*1Twente*](https://marlvel.ai/apps/nl-eentwente-app) (Streekomroep Twente) · 4.1/5 Rating - [*24 TV - Canlı TV & Haberler*](https://marlvel.ai/apps/tv-yirmidort-android) (TürkMedya Yayıncılık) · 4.2/5 Rating - [*9 Канал | Channel 9*](https://marlvel.ai/apps/co-pushapp-ninetv) (Channel 9) · 2.6/5 Rating - [*Aachener Zeitung E-Paper*](https://marlvel.ai/apps/de-zvadigital-epaper-viewer-gui) (Mediahuis Aachen GmbH) · 2.8/5 Rating - [*ABC13 Houston*](https://marlvel.ai/apps/abc13-houston) (Disney) · 4.5/5 Rating - [*ABC7 Chicago*](https://marlvel.ai/apps/abc7-chicago) (Disney) · 4.3/5 Rating ## Frequently Asked Questions {#faq} ### Is RTÉ News free to use?
