The 175-day update gap relative to its category peers signals a defensive posture rather than an aggressive growth strategy. ## Monetization Strategy - **Model:** Freemium - **Tiers:** Free access to digital content, Subscription tier with 50% discount offers - **Analysis:** Monetization relies on a mix of ad-supported free access and discounted subscription conversions for premium content. ## 🟡 User Sentiment (Medium Confidence: 1 of 1 review analyzed) {#user-sentiment} - **Overall Rating:** 4/5 - **Platform Split:** iOS 4.0/5 (2 ratings) - **Overall Sentiment:** Mixed ### Top Praises - **The news aggregation feature provides high quality stories that keep readers informed on current events** ## SWOT Analysis {#swot} **Core Strengths:** - Regional news monopoly drives high-intent traffic for local ad-inventory - CERCA location-sync feature reinforces daily habit via personalized push notifications **Growth Levers:** - Localized subscription pricing could convert casual readers in the Aragon region ## What's New - **Latest (v5.24.0, 5 months ago):** Introduced CERCA, enabling users to save favorite locations and access localized news across devices. ## App Momentum (Maintenance) {#momentum} - Shipped CERCA location-sync feature. - Quiet 5 months, maintenance-only cadence. > **Cadence:** 1 total versions · 1 majors in last 6 months · 175 days since last update ## The "So What?" (Strategic Takeaway) {#so-what} el Periodico de Aragón is a news app that is free with in-app purchases. It holds a 4/5 rating from 2 reviews. > **Bottom Line:** The regional news monopoly provides a stable base, but the 175-day update gap risks long-term relevance against national aggregators. Pivoting to optimize the subscription funnel would unlock revenue from the existing high-intent audience while the app remains in maintenance mode. **Best for:** Residents of the Aragon region and followers of local sports teams seeking regional news and municipal updates. ### PM Action Plan (Next Best Moves) - [ ] [PIVOT] Audit subscription conversion funnel because the current 175-day update gap suggests stagnant growth → increase ARPU ### Outlook: Mixed Regional news consumption is shifting toward personalized, cross-device experiences, and el Periodico de Aragón's recent CERCA update aligns with this trend. However, the lack of consistent release velocity suggests the app is currently optimized for stability rather than growth, which may lead to gradual audience erosion if national aggregators increase their regional focus. - 🟢 The latest release introduced cross-device location syncing, which directly resolves the primary user request for improved regional news utility. - 🔴 A 175-day release gap indicates a maintenance-only cadence, which leaves the app vulnerable to competitors with more frequent feature updates. ## Key Metrics Summary | Metric | Value | | :--- | :--- | | Overall Rating | 4/5 | | Total Reviews | 2 | | Sentiment | Mixed (50/100) | | Confidence | Medium | | Pricing Model | Freemium | | Platforms | iOS | | Key Features | 3 analyzed | | Outlook | Mixed | ## Competitor Comparison | App | Rating | Sentiment | Developer | | :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- | | **el Periodico de Aragón** (this app) | 4/5 | Mixed | Prensa Ibérica Digital S.L. | | [Pierre Capital Journal](https://marlvel.ai/apps/pierre-capital-journal) | 3.0/5 | N/A | Forum Communications Company | | [ตรวจหวย ง่าย ง่าย](https://marlvel.ai/apps/app--403) | 4.8/5 | N/A | Akanan Suramanee | | [1011 NOW News](https://marlvel.ai/apps/1011-now-news) | 2.5/5 | N/A | Gray Television Group, Inc. | | [102.5 The Bone: Real Raw Radio](https://marlvel.ai/apps/102-5-the-bone-real-raw-radio) | 3.8/5 | N/A | Cox Media Group | | [104.5 WOKV](https://marlvel.ai/apps/104-5-wokv) | 4.2/5 | N/A | Cox Media Group | ## Company Profile - **Developer:** Prensa Ibérica Digital S.L. - **Website:** [https://www.elperiodicodearagon.com/](https://www.elperiodicodearagon.com/) - **Social:** [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/elperiodicodearagon) · [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/elperiodicodearagon) · [X/Twitter](https://twitter.com/periodicoaragon) · [LinkedIn](https://www.linkedin.com/company/el-periodico-de-aragon) ## Data Sources & Links - **App Store:** [View on Apple Store](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/el-periodico-de-arag%C3%B3n/id419106730?uo=4) - **Dev Site:** [Official Website](https://www.elperiodicodearagon.com/) - **Sources:** Developer website content, App store metadata, User reviews. ## Related Intel Reports - [*Pierre Capital Journal*](https://marlvel.ai/apps/pierre-capital-journal) (Forum Communications Company) · 3.0/5 Rating - [*ตรวจหวย ง่าย ง่าย*](https://marlvel.ai/apps/app--403) (Akanan Suramanee) · 4.8/5 Rating - [*1011 NOW News*](https://marlvel.ai/apps/1011-now-news) (Gray Television Group, Inc.) · 2.5/5 Rating - [*102.5 The Bone: Real Raw Radio*](https://marlvel.ai/apps/102-5-the-bone-real-raw-radio) (Cox Media Group) · 3.8/5 Rating - [*104.5 WOKV*](https://marlvel.ai/apps/104-5-wokv) (Cox Media Group) · 4.2/5 Rating - [*107.5 The Game*](https://marlvel.ai/apps/107-5-the-game) (Cumulus Media) · 3.3/5 Rating - [*10 News Now - WSLS 10*](https://marlvel.ai/apps/10-news-now-wsls-10) (Graham Media Group, Inc) · N/A Rating - [*10 Tampa Bay*](https://marlvel.ai/apps/10-tampa-bay) (Tegna Inc.) · 4.8/5 Rating - [*10TV WBNS Columbus, Ohio*](https://marlvel.ai/apps/10tv-wbns-columbus-ohio) (Tegna Inc.) · 4.5/5 Rating - [*112Groningen*](https://marlvel.ai/apps/com-appademic-112groningen) (Appademic B.V.) · 3.3/5 Rating ## Frequently Asked Questions {#faq} ### Is el Periodico de Aragón free to use?
