This is our biggest update yet — built from your feedback, tested in the field, and designed to make Detector Maps the most powerful gold prospecting tool in Australia.

Over the past month, we've been working full-time to improve the app's performance, accuracy, and usability. Here's everything we've upgraded:

Trail Tracking Overhaul
Brand new on/off toggle for trail recording — no more guesswork.

Trails are now saved automatically, even if the app crashes or is closed.

Tap on any trail to rename, recolour, or delete it with ease.

We’ve reduced the trail line width for better visibility on the map.

Updated interval timing and accuracy logic means more realistic breadcrumb trails, especially around corners.

No more straight-line errors — trails follow your exact movement.

Compared side-by-side with other apps, Detector Maps now records sharper, more accurate paths, particularly during turns and slow movement - tuned and ready for prospecting.

Waypoint System Upgrade
Choose from 25 different waypoint styles, including colours and icons.

Save waypoints in small, medium, or large sizes — great for marking nugget size or importance.

Duplicate waypoint filter — if you’ve migrated from another app, remove hundreds of unnecessary duplicates in one tap.

Store thousands of waypoints locally without slowing the app down.

Syncing & Local Storage
Option to turn syncing on or off between your mobile devices and the web version.

Improved internal database management for faster performance and more reliable storage — even in offline mode.

Road Networks & Contours
We’ve added road data and 10m contour lines to every state, helping you navigate remote areas more easily.

Draw, Measure, and Save Custom Areas
Use the measure tool to draw your own polygons or lines, then save them to your map.

Perfect for marking Section 40e boundaries, faults, planned tenements, or areas of interest.

You can also draw polylines to mark access tracks, faults, or proposed walking routes.

Import Geochemical Data
Found a public geochemical survey we haven’t added yet? Now you can import your own .csv data directly into Detector Maps.

A game-changer for advanced users who want to layer their own intelligence on top of our datasets.

Other Fixes & Improvements
Major improvements to offline map stability and tile loading.

Fixed rendering order for location markers, breadcrumbs, and waypoints, so everything displays correctly.

Resolved multiple bugs that caused app crashes or performance issues.
