This update fixes issues with back-up emails.

Your exported 'Bird Sightings' file can now be found in the ‘Files’ folder on your iPhone or iPad.

This update includes improvements to setting the address when a bird sighting is made. A more complete address is now saved.

The app has been updated to ensure that it runs correctly on all current devices. This version also fixes bugs in the map when creating a new record.

We have added a 'duplicate' button to make it quicker and easier to record a number of similar bird sightings. Duplicate the sighting, then change the date, time, location, or name of the bird before saving.

Bug fix.

Details of a number of extra birds have been added - species that are becoming more common in Britain such as the Glossy Ibis, and some extra naturalised and feral birds such as the Bar-headed Goose. Images are now larger, and more flight and nest images have been included. Many other improvements have been made - for example, dunes and farmland have been added as habitats in the bird finder, and you can now use scientific names when you record a sighting of a bird.

New features have been added to enable you to import your own photos into the app. You can add photos to the notes for the bird and to your sightings by simply tapping the camera icon to take a photo or to choose a photo from your Photo Library. We have also added many more nest and egg photos, and generally smartened up the appearance of the app. Hope you enjoy the changes!

The app should now run perfectly on all devices! This update ensures that the app will run smoothly on iOS7 and the new models of iPhone as well as on older models.

If you missed the previous update you may like to know that the app now has iCloud syncing, so that if you have more than one device, your sightings data will synchronise automatically. This is OFF by default, so if you want to use it you need to go to the Settings of the app and switch it ON.

This update includes small improvements, general updating to keep the app running smoothly in the future, one new bird (the Black-winged Stilt), and iCloud syncing.

iCloud syncing is useful if you have more than one device - it is initially off, so if you would like to use it, please go to the Settings section of the app to enable it.

Many great new images have been added. In addition, the update fixes a random crash that occurred on iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 running iOS6.

NEW IN THIS UPDATE: The app is now a Universal app, with a brand new design for the iPad. In addition, a couple of new species have been added bringing the total to 297, and the strange rotation bug has been fixed.

NEW IN THIS UPDATE: The app now runs in portrait mode as well as landscape! This allows you to use the app in one hand, which is far more convenient while holding binoculars in the other. Portrait mode also makes full use of the larger screen of the new iPhone 5.

In addition, the app has been tweaked and updated, with improved graphics, extra bird photos and a couple of extra species.

Are you left-handed? Since the release of this update, we have discovered that it does not always work correctly when held in landscape with the Home button on the left. We will fix the problem as soon as possible, but in the meantime, we recommend using the app in portrait, or with the Home button on the right.

Please note: this version will not run on iOS 4.3, so please do not update if your device is still on iOS 4.3. You may want to consider updating your iOS software in order that apps will continue to work on your device.

NEW IN THIS UPDATE: The app now recognises the names of over 700 species and subspecies, so that you can record sightings of these birds. In addition, 7 new birds have been added (Green-winged Teal, Pallas's Warbler, Yellow-browed Warbler, Hume's Warbler, Woodchat Shrike, Crested Lark and Scottish Crossbill) and a Twitter link.

HOWEVER, If you are using a newer device, please  ignore this update - another will be along for you in a few days!

If you do decide to update, and you have added details of birds you have seen, please remember to BACK-UP using the email back-up before installing! You can find the button for this on the Settings screen.

What's new: A fully featured Record Centre has been added enabling you to view your sightings as a list or on a map, make repeat sightings of the same bird, and export records as an xml file. Your current list of 'seen' birds will be converted into editable records. PLEASE NOTE: Your notes for the bird will now be found on the new Notes screen (tap the Pencil icon on the Details screen for the bird).

24 new birds, extra images, more detailed descriptions, extra parameters in the Bird Finder, plus a new feature for comparing images easily.

To compare images, tap the + icon on the right of the enlarged image view to store the image for comparison, then tap from one to the other to compare. Hold and tap the small icon to remove the image.
