Small bug fixes plus a couple of new birds - the Tufted Duck and the Red-crested Pochard.

The app has had a complete overhaul to keep it working well into the future. More birds have been added, and you can now make your own custom lists of sounds to use in the quiz and the slideshow.

This update keeps the app running smoothly, and includes 20 new bird sounds such as the 'squeaky-gate' call of the young Long-eared Owl and the alarm call of the Greenfinch.

The app has been updated with a number of general improvements and small bug fixes, plus larger bird photos on the iPhone.

This update includes three new birds: the Dartford Warbler, the Yellow Wagtail and the Grey Wagtail, as well as general improvements.

Bug fix! The previous version had a bug in the custom level of the quiz on the iPad, which could lead to a blank screen. This has now been fixed.

Big changes on the iPhone - the app now rotates, and works in portrait as well as landscape! We’ve been wanting to do this for ages, but it was a lot of work!

We ‘ve also added a new feature, a human translation of the song or call, rather like ‘Google Translate’ for birds. Tap the small speech bubble above the image of the bird to see this.

And of course we’ve added some new bird sounds. The new birds are: Goosander, Night Heron, Purple Heron, Water Rail, Whooper Swan, Wood Sandpiper, Savi's Warbler, Bearded Tit, Siberian Jay, and Manx Shearwater.

This update adds the great sounds of the Rock Ptarmigan, Willow Ptarmigan, Chough, Alpine Chough, Greylag Goose and Canada Goose, and also a new feature - a voiceover in the slideshow section, announcing the name of the bird at the end of each sound (iOS 7 only). This new feature is great for testing yourself informally, or for competing with the family – who can say the name of the bird first?

This update adds 17 new sounds, chosen from your suggestions! The new birds include:

New sounds: The alarm calls of several garden birds (Blue Tit, Robin, Wren, Blackbird and Mistle Thrush), plus the flight call of the Redwing. In addition, the remarkable sound of the Mute Swan in flight, the Black-throated Diver (thanks to Lasse Karlsson for the recording) and the Tengmalm's Owl. You may need to select "All Birds" to hear all the new sounds.
