BARBARA has new buttons to add 9/4, 9/8, or 9/16 bars into a sequence of bars.

There are now new possibilities to add rehearsal marks into a sequence of bars.

BARBARA provides a  long list of demo sequences which demonstrate the possibilities how the metronome can be used. To demonstrate that BARBARA can, if necessary, play really long sequences, there is now an example sequence which shows all the bars in the "Sacrificial Dance" of "The Rite of Spring". That piece of music is famous for its changing time signatures.

Some modifications to the main metronome screen have been made. The 'balls', which are shown simultaneously when metronome sounds are heard, are now drawn in more attractive way.

BARBARA is now better at remembering the last played bars and last used tempo.

Buttons to create triplets and shuffle rhythms have been added to a new page of buttons. In Lists -> Demo you can find sequences which demonstrate the new features.

BARBARA has now many new buttons to create sequences of bars. For example, there are new kinds of buttons to create so-called additive rhythms such as 2+3+2 / 8.

With buttons marked acc. and rit. you can create accelerandos and ritardandos in a simple way. When symbol acc. precedes a bar, tempo will be gradually increased when the bar is played.

Some Info buttons have been added to provide information related to the new features.

Now it is possible to randomly silence beats while the metronome is operating. To use this feature, you must first activate "Volume Control & Silencing" in Info & Settings. This selection brings a speaker symbol to the upper left corner of the main screen.

By tapping the speaker symbol in the upper left corner, you can open or close a menu through which you can make some sound-related adjustments. You can totally silence the metronome, adjust the internal volume level of BARBARA, or select random silencing of metronome beats. You can tap the speaker symbol also when the metronome is operating.

There is now a new button marked with letter R. With the R button you can define a random tempo. The bars (measures) that follow the R symbol in a sequence of bars will be played in tempo that BARBARA calculates according to the set tempo limits. When random tempo is used, there can always be a different tempo for a sequence of bars.

When random tempo is defined, the user can set limits for the tempo. For example, if tempo limits are 120 and 140, the tempo calculated by BARBARA is something in the range 120 ... 140.

Small modifications were made to the main screen of BARBARA. When single notes ('bars' 1/4, 1/8, etc.) are played, the display is now more accurate.

The screens were adjusted so that BARBARA looks almost the same in all iPhone versions.
There is now the possibility to add rehearsal marks between bars. This makes it easier to handle long sequences of bars. A new button to add a rehearsal mark can be found on the second page of buttons.
Middle Play, the possibility to start playing bars in the middle of a sequence, was modified so that the point for Middle Play does not need to be set for each new playing.
Some new demo sequences of bars were added to Lists.

Tempo Tool is a separate tool inside BARBARA. With Tempo Tool you can measure tempos by tapping the screen. Tapping area of the Tempo Tool was made larger as the sizes of buttons were made smaller.

There is now a Quick Start button, marked with two dots, in the lower right corner of the main screen. With the Quick Start button you can make BARBARA play some basic rhythms like 4/4 or monotonous metronome sound.

There are now two Play buttons. The smaller button is marked with number 1 as it plays the shown sequence once. The larger Play button is then the Loop button which will repeat the
shown sequence as long as the metronome is stopped. These buttons are the old buttons, but the new symbols should make their operation more clear.

The Loop button is used more often than the Play 1 button.

The Play 1 button can be used when you create a long-playing sequence of bars, and you want the metronome to stop when the sequence is played. For example, you could create
a warm-up sequence that lasts a certain number of minutes. When the metronome stops, you know that the warm-up routine is completed.

No actual new features come in this version. This version contains modifications that were made to make BARBARA look good on the large screens of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models. This version does not affect other iPhone models on which BARBARA already looks very good.

BARBARA has now an internal volume control. You can set the sound level of the metronome by tapping the speaker symbol in the upper left corner of the main screen. This feature must be first activated by selecting Silent Play & Volume Control in Info & Settings.

Improvements to some demo sequences have been made.

There is now a new page of buttons to program bars. With the new buttons you can more easily create additive rhythms. For example, if you need to play a 5/8 bar and you want the metronome play it as 3/8 and 2/8, you can now program it with a single button marked with text 3+2/8.

There is a new way to set the tempo of the metronome. If you do a short tap on the tempo display, a dialog appears, and you can set the tempo in numbers. All the old ways to set the tempo are still there.

BARBARA can now be quickly made to operate as a 'traditional' metronome that ticks with a single monotonous sound. If you do a long press on the Play button, BARBARA starts repeating a single monotonous bar. To use this feature, you must press the Info button and activate the feature in settings.

Several new features have been added.

The metronome can be activated by tapping four times an empty area of the main screen.

By doing a long press on the tempo label it is possible to open a so-called Tempo Tool, with which it is possible do tempo measurements by tapping the screen.

The metronome can be set to play a certain number of minutes by doing a long press on the Loop button.

If there is a long sequence of bars programmed, and the user wants to start playing somewhere in the middle of the sequence, he or she can tap the bar from which the playing should start.

It is possible to temporarily silence the metronome, so that the rhythm is shown only visually.

When bars and rests are programmed, it is possible to specify play times in minutes provided that a tempo is programmed earlier in the sequence of bars.

New demos are available among the lists of sequences of bars.
