Here’s what's new in SketchUp for iPad v8.1.1 (2257)
In this update, we’ve polished the experience to ensure your tools stay out of the way of your big ideas. We’ve squashed some pesky bugs and fine-tuned the interface so you can focus on what matters: creating.

SketchUp now requires iOS 18 or later. By focusing on the latest operating systems we deliver a faster, more secure experience for everyone.

Live Components
• Scaling: Scalable Live Components can now be dynamically scaled in SketchUp using the native Scale tool, offering greater placement flexibility.
• Painting: Use the Paint Bucket. This updated workflow now includes better texture mapping, and painting while a Live Component is selected.

Collaboration
• If you’re exploring a link-shared model, you can now toggle panel settings to see how different styles or tags look. To keep the "source of truth" safe, these panels return to a read-only state the moment the Editor joins the Collaboration session.

Bug Fixes
• Arc & Pie Tool Stability: Entering large values while drawing with the Pie Arc tool will no longer cause the app to crash.
• Angle Snapping Fix: A localization bug where Angle Snapping reverted to 1° in non-English languages has been fixed for our international users.
• We addressed an uncommon error when opening Trimble Connect files from the Home screen after a "Save As" operation that would report the file as “Not found”.
• The right-side buttons in Portrait mode are now stable and won't shift when the context menu appears, ensuring a predictable workspace.
• Fixed an issue causing the Share bar to drift off-screen when opening the first model after launch.
• We fixed a visual glitch in the Outliner after clearing a search that caused entries to stack on each other in a jumble.
• Fixed a bug that prevented a user’s name from updating correctly under the profile image in the upper right of the home screen
• Fixed a bug that caused crashing when docking toolbars in the editor
• Resolved an issue where double-tapping with the Apple Pencil failed to apply corner inferences in the 2-point arc tool while in "Click-Move-Click" mode.
• Fixed top crash bug that caused the app to crash when attempting to add a comment to a newly shared collaboration file
