Original release notes

Flying Start 1.1 — smarter starts, on the house

ALL RACE TYPES ARE NOW FREE. Fleet, pursuit, average-lap — the lot. We'd rather have every sailor on the line than behind a paywall.

DISTANCE-TO-LINE NOW MEASURES FROM YOUR BOW. Set a bow offset once, and the app accounts for the fact that your phone is in your pocket amidships — but it's your bow that crosses the line. Your countdown-to-burn just got honest.

INSTRUMENTS KEEP WORKING WITH YOUR PHONE LOCKED. Background GPS means you can stash your phone in a dry bag mid-sequence and the numbers stay live. And the start-area map is now available offline, because mobile signal offshore is a rumour.

MY RACES OPENS WHERE YOU ARE. The list now lands on your most recent race, and the tracking sheet shows today's races front and centre — less scrolling with cold, wet hands.

AFTER THE FINISH: the Start Score panel is more dependable, with an inline preview of your track (you can switch it off if you prefer a quiet debrief).

ON YOUR WRIST: tap any race in MY RACES on Apple Watch to drill into full details, and GPS track uploads now retry automatically when signal drops out — no more lost races.

UNDER THE HOOD: crew sync is now encrypted, a crash in the start-signal schedule is fixed, instrument rendering is faster, and everything is ready for iOS 27.

Fair winds — and see you on the line.
