This update introduces a banner inviting you to migrate to the main Goodnotes app. Everything you love about Goodnotes Classroom will be available there, along with new features and bug fixes.
Please note, the Goodnotes Classroom app will deprecated on 31 August 2026, and we will not be introducing any new features, or making improvements to it moving forwards.

In our latest release we’ve made general user experience and quality of life improvements, including crash bug fixes.

- Goodnotes AI: Generate Hints - stability fixes and additional event tracking.
- Minor UI fixes, improved error handling and performance optimizations.

Students can now resubmit assignments
- Streamline distribution: You can set assignments, and seamlessly receive updated versions after students have made corrections
- Build on feedback: Students can continue to improve by working on assignments after they’re initially submitted
- Keep on top of progress: You can both track different versions over time

Plus, general user experience and quality of life improvements, including crash bug fixes.

- Upgraded user experience for Assignments! We’ve updated the interface to be more friendly for teachers to use when assigning take-home work for students.
- Fixed a bug that would cause items to be un-removable from Lessons, after switching between Preparation and Teaching Modes.

- Folder support in private documents.
- Fixed a critical bug that would cause Documents to not be displayed for certain Goodnotes accounts.
- Minor bug fixes for Teaching Mode, View by Question, Document sharing, and Smart Clustering.
- View by Question “swiping” has been calibrated to be less sensitive, i.e. more usable.
- Smart View toggle has been moved from the Navigation Bar (top of screen) to the Class Navigator (bottom). This makes it simpler to toggle while navigating the class of students.

Quality of life bug fixes connected to Compare to Model Answer, Sticky Notes, and Document sharing.

- Version Compatibility in Goodnotes Classroom. This automatic function of Goodnotes and Goodnotes Classroom allows Teachers and Students on different versions of the app to still have access to and can annotate the same Notebook or Lesson without having to be updated to the same version.
- Bug fixes related to Answer Zone glitches.

- Overall quality of life and stability fixes.
- Improved Lesson syncing between Teachers and Students.

The Classroom and Goodnotes 6 app updates on Oct 14 will address the following issues.
It is highly recommended that all Teachers and Students update their versions of Classroom and Goodnotes 6, respectively, to take advantage of the full benefits.

- New features
    - The School Admin can now pre-qualify users for the Teacher role and send out invitation links to Teachers before they log in to the Classroom app for the first time, via the Admin Console -> “Home” -> “Share invite links” feature. In order for Teachers to accept the invite, they must use the new Oct 14 Classroom app update. (Classroom app only)
    - Smart Ink! (Both Classroom and Goodnotes 6 apps)
- Improved quality and stability fixes
    - This build contains a fix to the reported issue where Students are sometimes unable to see the documents in their Class folders. (Goodnotes 6 app only)
    - This build contains a fix where long-pressing to select text in a PDF document would cause the app to crash. (Both Classroom and Goodnotes 6 apps)
- New logging mechanisms - to help us troubleshoot for future reported issues
    - Logging for Students’ strokes in a Lesson - will help Goodnotes debug the reported issue of some strokes appearing on an incorrect layer, i.e. on someone else’s work. (Goodnotes 6 app only)

The Admin Console update (https://edu-admin.goodnotes.com/) is live now and addresses the following issues:

- The School Admin can now get Classroom up and running more easily:
    - (1) The School Admin can self-verify their school domain, via the Admin Console -> “Home” -> “Add a domain” feature.
    - (2) The School Admin can choose an Authentication method (Google/Apple/Microsoft) for their domain, via the Admin Console -> “Home” -> “Choose an authentication method” feature.
    - (3) The School Admin can now pre-qualify users for the Teacher role and send out invitation links to Teachers before they log in to the Classroom app for the first time, via the Admin Console -> “Home” -> “Share invite links” feature.
- The School Admin can now enable/disable the ability for Students to share documents in Goodnotes, via the new Admin Console -> “Feature Control” section.

We’re excited to introduce several major new features in this update:

– New handwriting editing capabilities: Adjusting and reorganizing notes is now easier than ever, powered by our new Smart Ink technology. Your handwriting now reflows as seamlessly as typed text when you lasso and resize width, copy and paste, add space in the middle of sentences, or align left/right/center. Available in English notes, with more languages supported soon.

– Math Assist: Get help with solving math problems right in your notebooks, simply by writing a line of math followed by an equal sign. Enable in Pen settings, under Math Assist > Suggestions. Available for arithmetic, algebra, and advanced math including calculus and trigonometry, in English notes, with more languages supported soon. Math Assist is not available in documents shared to students in a Class Folder.

– Sticky Notes: Add sticky notes in a tap, then write, type, add images or stickers, and more. You can adjust the size, shape, and color of sticky notes, as well as collapse and expand them into pins.

We also added several quality of life improvements and bug fixes, including:

– After you click an internal link, a button now appears to bring you back to the source page, as long as you remain on the destination page.

– Updated the look and feel of the Lasso tool edit menu

– Variety of bug fixes for the new Pencil tool

– Added a fix for an issue where the end of ink strokes sometimes appeared distorted when Hover is enabled for Apple Pencil

– Added Hover preview on the Eraser tool for Apple Pencil Pro

Bug and performance fixes, including faster image uploads during a Lesson.

This updates includes several small bug fixes and performance improvements to make sure that the app runs smoothly:
- The position of the sidebar can now be set to be left or right
- Fixed a bug that causes some visual glitches when reordering tabs
- Fixed a crash when duplicating a newly added Element without dismissing it first
- Fixed a bug that caused the Share button to disappear while audio recording playback was active
- Fixed an issue with iCloud sync where the sync stopped updating when adding new images to the library while the Image Tool was selected

This update includes several bug fixes and performance improvements:
- Fixed an issue that caused notes added on Whiteboard in the Smart View “by Page” are not showing in “by Question” and vice versa
- Links to Lessons in Google Classroom are now properly opened in Goodnotes
- Fixed an issue that caused the app to freeze when tapping on the document info
