  1. v8.0.1iOS
REC 8.0.1 makes the app smoother, faster, and more reliable, so you can focus on recording.
  2. v8.0iOS
REC 8 is a major professional upgrade introducing a full Open Gate recording pipeline, complete ProRes RAW support, Apple Log 2 compatibility, and constant frame rate on supported devices. This release also enhances reliability with smarter automatic format adjustments, improved device capability detection, and refined session behavior. The entire Settings experience has been rebuilt in SwiftUI for a cleaner, more consistent interface. Together, these improvements make REC 8 our most powerful and future-ready version for filmmakers who depend on precision and performance.
  3. v7.8iOS
iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro support. We’ve updated REC to run flawlessly on Apple’s latest devices. Whether you're filming in ProRes on iPhone 17 Pro or shooting cinematic clips on the standard iPhone 17, REC is optimized for performance, compatibility, and battery efficiency.
  4. v7.7.4iOS
We’ve added a new option to the menu that links directly to the official REC Instruction Manual on our website. Whether you need a quick refresher or want to dive deeper into REC’s powerful manual video tools, help is now just one tap away.

As always, we appreciate your continued support and feedback—it helps us make REC even better for pros like you.
  5. v7.7.3iOS
We’ve streamlined the about section of REC’s menu system to more it more intuitive, and less cluttered.
  6. v7.7.2iOS
We’ve resolved an issue with the widget icon to ensure it displays correctly, and we’ve fixed the occasional flickering of the timecode indicator for smoother recording sessions. Additionally, the seasonal winter app icon has been removed as we transition back to the default look. As always, thank you for using REC, and stay tuned for more updates!
  7. v7.7.1iOS
Embrace the holiday spirit with our fresh seasonal look. It's our little way of adding some warmth to your home screen.

    Season's greetings from LateNiteSoft!
  8. v7.7iOS

  9. v7.6iOS
REC 7.6 introduces Cine++, a cutting-edge video stabilization mode exclusively available for iOS 18 users on recent devices. This new mode leverages an enhanced stabilization algorithm to deliver superior shake reduction and improved overall stability compared to existing Cine and Cine+ modes. While Cine++ operates with a slightly reduced field of view, it achieves its enhanced stabilization without introducing any noticeable latency, making it ideal for users seeking professional-grade video stability.
  10. v7.5.1iOS
We've fixed an issue that affected the activation of external storage when migrating from an iPhone 15 Pro to an iPhone 16 Pro. With this update, your external drives should now activate seamlessly, ensuring smooth recording and storage management across devices.
  11. v7.5iOS
Introducing iOS 18 and iPhone 16 Pro support. You can now use REC to record at 4K at 120 FPS with your iPhone 16 Pro. You can also use the camera control to start and stop recording. Enjoy the update and thanks for using REC.
  12. v7.1.3iOS
We have improved the existing recording stop warning system to now include notifications for low battery interruptions. If your battery level drops to a critical level and affects recording, you will receive triple-warning alerts:

    * On-screen Alert: A prominent visual cue will notify you of the low battery situation.
    * Audio Alert: An audible signal will warn you if you’re not looking at the screen.
    * Flashing Lights: The device’s flashlight will blink several times to ensure the alert is visible even from the front.

These enhancements ensure that you won't miss any crucial moments due to unforeseen power issues. Our aim is to provide you with as much control and foresight as possible, so your recordings remain uninterrupted and of the highest quality.

Your feedback is incredibly important to us. If you have any questions, suggestions, or encounter any issues, please reach out through the in-app bug reporter or via support@latenitesoft.com. Your input helps shape the future of our app.
  13. v7.1.2iOS
In this update, we have addressed various issues to enhance the overall stability and reliability of the application. Additionally, we've optimized performance to ensure a smoother and more efficient user experience.
  14. v7.1.1iOS
In version 7.1.1 we introduce a few UI tweaks in the settings menu.

In version 7.1 we introduced a mechanism to warn our users if video has stopped recording for ANY reason. REC lets you know in three distinct ways.

        1. An alert on the screen. This visual cue should make it very obvious that something has gone wrong. But what if you're not behind the camera, but in front of it?
        2. An audio alert. If you're not looking at the screen, this is your first line of defense as an indication of a problem. But there are ways to miss this as well, if the device is silenced or the interruption itself produces audio.
        3. Flashing lights. The last line of defense. Even if you're in front of the camera, and the device is silenced, it will be difficult to miss the device's flashlight lighting up several times.

All three of these alerts happen simultaneously, so you're aware the instant that there's a problem. But what can you do to prevent problems in the first place? You can try putting your device in airplane mode, to reduce the risk of incoming calls or messages. Completely closing all apps in the background may help REC retain focus. And denying permission to any non-critical notifications will help reduce the likelihoood of receiving one during a crucial moment. But when all else fails, we will make absolutely sure you know that an interruption has occurred.

Have an idea, question, comment, or problem with REC? Send us a note, we love hearing from you! You can do this via the in-app bug reporter or support@latenitesoft.com. Your feedback means the world to us, and directly helps shape the future of our apps.
  15. v7.1iOS
There is no worse feeling than wrapping up a perfect interview and realizing that *at some point* recording just... stopped. How can this even happen in 2024? The answer is surprisingly, more ways than we thought. Anything that has the potential to temporarily take the device's focus could interrupt your footage. Causes range from overheating, to getting a phone call, to simply an alert from another app.

So what can we do about it? Unfortunately it's beyond our power to block most of these things. What we can do, however, is give you a giant warning that you can't possibly miss, that something has gone awry. Now when recording is interrupted for ANY reason, REC lets you know in three distinct ways.

  16. v7.0.9iOS
This version adds some minor bug corrections.

In recent versions, for our users with iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, we brought you the ability to record in Apple LOG when using ProRes, unlocking a new level of creative control and flexibility in your video production. We’re thrilled to introduce this exciting enhancement in REC! In addition we added USB-C external storage for iPhone 15 Pro! With REC 7.0, we’re focusing on optimizing your workflow by introducing the best way to record to an external disk via USB-C. While iOS 17 introduced the ability to record to external drives, we’ve taken that idea a step (or two) further.

    External Recording Enhancements:
    - Format Freedom: Unlike the default camera app, REC allows you to record to an external disk in any format, not just ProRes.
    - Seamless Integration: Simply choose to prefer saving to an external disk, when available. REC will manage the recording process automatically.
    - Integrated External Disk Speed Test: Normally, recording to an external disk is a bit of a black box. If you have a slower disk frames can be dropped without warning, leading to choppy video files. With REC however, you can easily access a disk speed test from the settings menu to determine which formats will work best for your drive.
    - Frame Loss Protection: If for some reason frames are being dropped while recording to an external drive, REC will alert you with a warning, so you can resolve the issue before wasting too much precious light.

Other Benefits of Recording to an External Disk:
    - No Regrets: With recording to an external disk, you can now record for extended periods without worrying about running out of internal storage space.
    - Optimized Workflow: Forget long transfer times, simply unplug your drive from your iPhone and plug it into your preferred editing computer. That's it!

As always, your feedback is invaluable to us. If you have suggestions, questions, or encounter any issues while using REC, please don't hesitate to reach out to our support team via the in-app bug reporter or support@latenitesoft.com. We're committed to continuously improving your video shooting experience.
