The Splunk AR mobile app version 3.0.0 requires Splunk Secure Gateway and the Splunk App for AR. Splunk Secure Gateway lets you register mobile devices. The Splunk App for AR lets you set up and administrate your Splunk AR mobile app deployment.

The Splunk AR mobile app version 3.0 has the following new features:
Object Detection: Use logos or text strings to register assets.
Remote Collaboration: Share a 3D view of the environment you're in and the AR workspace that you're viewing with other Splunk AR users.

- Support for Mobile Device Management (MDM)

- Media trays and toolbars: Select a visualization to keep it in your view. You can can expand and interact with it while working with the rest of your workspace.
- Bug fix: Version 2.4.1 fixes a bug that might’ve caused the app to close unexpectedly when adjusting an AR workspace.

- Enhanced plane snapping: When adjusting a workspace, release a panel and it'll snap to the plane of the panel that it's closest to.
- Edge snapping: When adjusting a workspace, release a panel close to another panel and the edges will snap together.

- Plane snapping: When adjusting a workspace, release a panel and it’ll snap to the plane of the workspace title.
- Workflow Automation (beta) playbook menu: Select a playbook to adjust or remove it.

• Splunk Cloud Gateway AR workspace editor: Admins can now edit workspaces in Splunk Cloud Gateway.
• Workspace relocalization: Splunk AR caches the workspace when you leave and come back to the app so you don’t have to scan the asset tag again to view the workspace. Splunk AR uses the asset as a reference so make sure that the asset is in the camera view.
• Workflow Automation (beta): Add Splunk Phantom playbooks to AR workspaces to guide users through real-life tasks.
• New Splunk AR capabilities: Provide specific users with read, write, or manage permissions for assets, AR workspaces, beacons, geofences, and Splunk Phantom playbooks.

• Multi-media notes: Add text, image, PDF, audio, or video notes to your AR workspaces.
• More visualizations supported in AR: Now, you can view and interact all basic Splunk chart types.
• Multi-instance support: Use Splunk AR with multiple Splunk Enterprise or Splunk Cloud instances.
• Screenshot and screen record Splunk AR: Capture what you see with a built-in screenshot and screen record feature.

To get data from your Splunk Enterprise or Splunk Cloud instance, an admin must install Splunk Cloud Gateway and enable Splunk Mobile. Splunk Cloud Gateway is a required companion app for transferring data from your on-premise deployment to registered mobile devices. Install Splunk Cloud Gateway from Splunkbase.
