Since Universe became the easiest responsive website builder with support for websites that adapt seamlessly across devices we have heard feedback asking for a way to preview sites across device sizes before publishing. We heard you and have been working behind the scenes to make it happen.

We are excited to announce Device Previews! A new way to preview how your site looks on different sized devices from inside the editor. It is now easier than ever to check how your site appears on a large desktop from your iPhone or how your site appears on a small mobile device from your Mac. All without leaving the editor.

Try searching for what you’d like to add to your site like button or payment. You can also search for shapes like arrow or circle. You can even search for images for your site by typing photo of a car or gif of a dog to see prefilled options ready to add to your site using royalty free images.

We are making it easier to manage the pages on your site and add more pages to your site. The new Pages tab shows all your pages in a list with their name, address, and if they are published to make it easier to find and manage all your pages. And the new Page Template Library makes it easier to find great page designs you can use for your site to make adding new pages faster and easier. You can even save your own Page Templates to customize your workflow.

We also fixed a rare bug when sharing your site to Instagram shortly after publishing.

We are making it easier than ever to expand your website with additional pages. You can now create your own Page Templates for common pages like new product pages or blog posts. Any pages you create regularly just got faster and easier.

There is also a new Page Template Library. This library will include all the Page Templates available within Universe in one place. So you can search and find just the right page to expand your website. The Page Template library has multiple copies of common pages like a contact page in different styles as well as one of a kind pages like an aftercare guide perfect for your Tattoo Studio. Whatever page you need for your site, you can find it in the Page Template Library.

We are working on something to make page create so much easier. It is not quite ready yet. Stay tuned.

We are working to make sure you stay connected while editing your website. This update includes some improved checking and simplified error messages when your device loses a connection to the internet.

This time we mean it. There really are bug fixes and performance improvements in this version. But only if you are reckless with your OS updates.

Fixing bugs and taking names. Or something like that. We fixed a rare crash after publishing and got some preparation in for an upcoming operating system release we know you’re all excited for.

We are always working on something big. But sometimes we need to take a break and ship something small. This week we are adding a keyboard short cut to let you delete selected blocks on Mac and iPad. We always wanted this and now you have it too!

The internet is a wonderful place. It connects us, gives us a canvas for self expression, and empowers us to shape our world. But your connection to the web can be fragile. Fleeting cell tower connections, bouncing wifi networks, and content blockers in between make it a challenge to stay connected.

To keep you connected while building your own corner of the internet we have added additional resilience to Universe’s connection management. Universe will now retry a few extra times automatically, share better error messages when connections fail, and offer some tips for fixing your connection if your device has any trouble.

To make those restarts a little easier we fixed an error that would show if you deleted all your pages and tried to restart from site settings.
