“Recent user voice shows a excited sentiment. Users appreciate recipe importing & ai features and user interface & design, but report lack of cross-platform support and subscription & paywall frustrations.”
What Users Love
It easily scrapes websites for recipes and saves them to your local device
The AI Import for recipes is amazing... takes wildly typed recipes and makes it a simple format
The smoothest and most well thought out recipe app by far
Interface is easy to use and I love that it is AI supported
Pain Points
The other thing holding me back from a 5 star rating is that there is no Android app
PLEASE MAKE A WEB APP AND A WINDOWS APP. Not everyone who uses Crouton has a Mac
You can only have 5 recipes for free... 5 recipes is pointless
Smart import should not be behind a subscription paywall

What are the pros and cons?
Pros
- Exceptional UI/UX design that feels native to the Apple ecosystem.
- Advanced AI/OCR ingestion capabilities that reduce manual entry friction.
- Unique hardware integrations (Bluetooth scales/probes) that create a 'smart kitchen' moat.
Cons
- Lack of cross-platform support (Android/Web) limits the total addressable market.
- Reported bugs in iCloud syncing and Safari sharing impact user trust.
- Aggressive free-tier limits (5 recipes) may turn away casual users before they see value.
What is the market outlook?
Growth Opportunities
- Expansion to Android or a web-based portal to capture the non-Apple demographic.
- Deepening AI capabilities to compete with DishGen (e.g., ingredient-based recipe generation).
- Improving sync reliability to convert 'frustrated' users into loyal subscribers.
Market Threats
- Established competitors like Paprika have high brand loyalty and cross-platform support.
- Generative AI tools could commoditize the 'recipe finding' aspect of the app.
- Potential for Apple to integrate similar 'recipe management' features directly into iOS/Notes.
