“Recent user voice shows a thrilled sentiment. Users appreciate educational value for wine professionals and high production quality and storytelling, but report missing smart tv app (samsung) and ui and playback friction.”
What Users Love
It has been a really useful tool whilst studying for my WSET level 3.
As an individual working in at wine bar/retail, this app has been super helpful increasing my knowledge with wine
I love the consistently beautiful cinematography in all of the videos.
The storytelling, the fun, and the education Wise, Jackson, Coppi and company provide is unmatched
I think SommTV over delivers for the $50/yr fee.
Really high quality content - easiest $6/month I've ever spent!
Pain Points
I would like there to be an app for the Samsung TVs to make it easier to view.
There isn't an app available for Samsung smart TV's so I have to screen mirror instead.
When watching a series it would be great to automatically go to the next episode rather than selecting each episode.
Currently any time you select anything, it automatically plays which is frustrating.
After you watch virtually everything on here, you find your self waiting a lot for new content.

What are the pros and cons?
Pros
- Exceptional cinematic production quality and storytelling.
- Highly authoritative, professional-grade educational content (trusted by WSET students).
- Passionate, highly engaged niche community willing to pay for premium subscriptions.
- Strong hybrid monetization model (SVOD + TVOD).
Cons
- Lack of native applications for major Smart TV ecosystems (specifically Samsung).
- UI/UX friction, including forced auto-play and lack of basic SVOD features like watch history and series auto-advance.
- Slower content release cadence leading to library exhaustion for power users.
What is the market outlook?
Growth Opportunities
- Develop and launch native apps for Samsung (Tizen) and LG (webOS) to capture the living room audience.
- Implement standard streaming UI features (watch history, auto-play toggles) to immediately boost user retention and satisfaction.
- Form official partnerships with wine education bodies (like WSET or GuildSomm) to bundle subscriptions for students.
Market Threats
- Broader, well-funded premium SVODs (YesChef, MasterClass) expanding their wine and culinary verticals.
- Emerging live-streaming platforms (Kittch) capturing the interactive, live culinary audience.
- Free, high-quality educational content on YouTube and Patreon from independent sommeliers.
